IMDb profile |
Kanchenjungha is a 1962 film by Indian film director Satyajit Ray. Kanchenjungha was Ray's first original screenplay and his colour film.
The film is about a group of wealthy young Bengalis on vacation in Darjeeling, near Kanchenjunga. Shot in real-time, this quiet and intricate film is a subtle examination of the evolving relationships between the various characters. With dialogue shifting between English and Bengali, the film was - along with its use of color - a departure for Ray.
