Kammersänger

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kammersänger (or Ks.) literally means "Chamber singer." It is a German honorific title for singer. The title is given in Federal Republic of Germany and in Austria usually on the recommendation of national, urban and/or social institutions. In the German Democratic Republic, some concert halls lent this designation; historically, the title could be bestowed by princes or kings.
