[edit] Raster graphic editor?
This program is on the Comparison of raster graphics editors. But it doesn't look like this is a program to fix up a photograph or anything. Does it really belong on the list? Althepal 23:41, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- The Raster graphics editor page states that "A raster graphics editor is a computer program that allows users to paint and edit pictures interactively on the computer screen and save them..." While the Kaleidica doesn't allow editing, it seems to be all about interactive image manipulation and painting. It seems to me that it falls under the category of a raster graphics editor. It is as much a raster tool as some on the list like Corel Paint or Alias sketchbook. I guess the difference is that it doesn't allow the running of filters over images. Being no expert, I couldn't definitively state either way. By the way, Althepal, the edits you did were great. Jasper124c41 05:09, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you. :) Does it open and save in bitmap formats like JPEG, PNG, BMP? (I don't know, I don't use the program, that's why I'm asking.) A raster graphics editor has to support these file types. Anyhow, the program doesn't really seem to have the common features listed on the page you referenced from (e.g. "Select a region for editing", I am not sure about any of the others). Even still, maybe it is technically a raster graphic editor and just an unusual one? (Do you think maybe it is a vector graphic editor?) Althepal 06:02, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- As far as I know, it only saves in jpeg format, and I don't believe you can open images fully into the program. To be perfectly honest, I think the Kaleidica probably falls in an altogether different category (one that perhaps hasn't been formulated yet). It has some similar characteristics to the iTunes visualizer, except that it is very user interactive. Given that most of the programs on the raster list seem to be created for specific manipulation of already-created images, and this is more for the creation of brand new images, I am going to remove the Kaleidica from the raster list. - It is possible it is a raster graphics editor; but it is also likely it isn't a proper fit or not one at all. Probably doesn't belong on the list. Althepal 06:25, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Price
Is the program proprietary or open source? Is the program pricey or freeware? This should be mentioned both in the article and the infobox. Althepal 06:25, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- Fixed. Althepal 07:14, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Software: not video game
You seemed to be basing this article, as you were making it, on video game articles. I've fixed the infobox to comply with software program infoboxes. You still need to replace the cover of the software package with an actual screenshot of the program. Althepal 07:14, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- I updated the screenshot; you are right, I did inadvertantly use the game format. Thanks for straightening this out. Jasper124c41 08:07, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- Does the program take up the full screen? If not, it might be better to show the entire window, and then you should say which os it is on. Also, update the caption. Althepal 23:02, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, the program does take up the whole screen. I will update the caption right now. Jasper124c41 00:05, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- Is your screen taller than it is wide? The screenshot is, and that is quiet unusual. Althepal 05:24, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- No, I admit that would be rather bizarre (I can't say I have ever seen standard screen taller than wide). Rather, I took the screen grab (which was a 1024/768) into photoshop where I cropped it down to a size which I thought would fit in the sidebar. Looking back at some other software pages though, I realize that I should just reduce my resolution to 800x600 and put on an uncropped screenshot. I'll change it tomorrow. Good eyes!
