Kaliště (Pelhřimov District)

Kaliště (German Kalischt) is a village and municipality near Humpolec in Okres Pelhřimov, Vysočina Region, Czech Republic. Population: 330.

The village is mentioned for the first time as a property of the Chapter of Vyšehrad in 1318. Its name means "wallow" in English. The Bohemian village is best known for being the birthplace of the Austrian composer Gustav Mahler.
