From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kaleb Simmonds (born January 29, 1983 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian singer known for being the seventh-place finisher in season two of the reality television series Canadian Idol.

Simmonds had been performing since the age of seven, and was nominated for an East Coast Music Award in 2002 and 2003. Simmonds has performed with a number of hip-hop groups including Roosevelt Tharpa (Simmonds, Kunga219, DJ Gordski, Tachichi & Skratch Bastid.) He is known not only for his singing, but also for his beat-boxing and his ability to seamlessly combine the two. Simmonds' beat-boxing can be heard on the theme music for CBC radio's 'Canada Reads' series. He was also featured briefly in the CTV documentary 'the 902.'

He claimed to view his performances on Canadian Idol as simply a way to get his music across to a broad audience. He has since returned to Nova Scotia to perform with area hip hop groups, and is signed with the Halifax-based Homiez Productions label.
