Kale borroka

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kale Borroka (Basque for 'Street Fighting') refers to riots caused by Basque independentist young people. Their tactics include: destroying public property (burning trash bins, burning buses, assaulting offices, smashing light poles, etc.), destroying private property (burning cars, assaulting commerces, etc.), armed and hostile aggression against police, promoting and distributing ETA propaganda, brawling in bars, etc.

Despite ETA's ceasefire in March 2006, the Kale Borroka has not ceased. On November 2006, Otegi announced to the Spanish government and PNV, that all forms of violence (mainly Kale Borroka) would be eliminated in exchange for immunity[citation needed].
