[edit] Overview

Both resorts have a distinct African theme. The lobbies have artificial waterfalls, trees, animals, etc. Special African-themed events, such as getting your picture taken with baby tigers, are also held. Most of the water slides in their water parks are named after African animals, such as the "Rippling Rhino" and the "Wild Wildebeest". Other things included in Kalahari are restaurants, gift shops, sweet shops, and a variety of rooms and suites.

[edit] Name

The Kalahari Resort is named after the Kalahari Desert in southern Africa, hence its African theme.

[edit] Wisconsin Dells Location

Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, home of the largest outdoor water park, Noah's Ark, is also home to the first Kalahari Resort, which is known for having the largest indoor water park in America (125,000 square feet). After Fall 2007, Wisconsin Dells will not hold the "America's Largest Indoor Waterpark title, as it's predecessor, Kalahari Sandusky will be home to "America's Largest Indoor Waterpark". The Kalahari Indoor Waterpark, is home to the 1st indoor Master Blaster, an uphill water coaster like ride. Water park admission is included upon staying at the resort, but also available to the general public as well. Prices for the general public vary, due to special holiday discounts. Along with the indoor water park, there is also an outdoor water park, which is also very large.

The resort has two main restaurants: The Great Karoo and Kahunaville. You can also rent one of the resort's condominiums rather than a room or suite. Other activities at Kalahari include going to their relaxing spa or luxurious lounges, golfing at the Trappers Turn Golf Club, located on the outside of town, enjoying their gift and sweet shops, and even create your own pottery!

[edit] Sandusky Location

The Sandusky, Ohio location is about the same as its predecessor, except the restaurant and shop names slightly differ. It did not have an outdoor water park until summer 2006, but as of then, it is still smaller than the one in the Wisconsin Dells Kalahari. The indoor water park is also smaller (80,000 square feet), but still has the same variety of rides and attractions. The waterpark is undergoing a 93,000 sq. foot expansion. Once this is complete, the Sandusky indoor waterpark will be larger than the Wis. Dells Kalahari. It may also be the United States' largest indoor waterpark with a size of 173,000 sq. feet. Also included are the same golf courses, condominiums, spa, etc. as in the Wisconsin Dells location.

[edit] Convention Centers

Both Kalahari Resorts include a convention center. This is where people can hold meetings, parties, and banquets. Their centers have also won numerous awards for its great superiority.
