Completely and natively/near-natively fluent in English and German. Moderately, but somewhat rustily, fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. Some major dabbling with other languages such as Russian, Japanese, French, and Dutch. Some minor dabbling with still others like Czech, Vietnamese, Swahili, ASL, Esparanto, Greek, Hebrew, and Latin. Years of experience learning, teaching, translating and coordinating languages. And, of course, years of struggling with, living in and loving multicultural contexts. Some countries I've lived in: USA, Spain, Germany, Taiwan. Some countries I've been to a few times or for more than just a few weeks - and have liked and/or have learned something important from: China, HK, Japan, Vietnam, 'Czechoslovakia' (Prague, Czech Republic), 'GDR', Italy, Switzerland, France, England.
Some interests, some experience, some knowledge, some curiosty - (This list is by no means exhaustive. If you know me, feel free to add to it. I know I will as I go along) ::: Heart Sutra, Elfriede Jelinek, Queer studies, Kabbalah, 中国, QAF, Absolutely Fabulous, Utopia, Diamanda Galas, Southern Baptist Convention, Star Trek, Marxism, Quantum mechanics, Linguistics, Sumer, Majiang, Zen.
