Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii is a popular Indian television serial on the channel Star Plus. It is an Ekta Kapoor production. It describes the struggles of a housewife Parvati Agarwal.
Take a happy family, add a couple of daughter-in-laws, a gullible sister-in-law, a mother-in-law who feels threatened by one of her daughter-in-law, and is manipulated by the other - and what you have is Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, a story that could be as true to your life as to anyone else's.
Parvati is the older daughter-in-law of the Agarwal household and is married to Om. She is the ideal daughter-in-law - one who keeps everyone happy and strives to maintain harmony in the house.
Into this picture of bliss steps Pallavi, the woman engaged to the second brother, Ajay. The problem? Ajay has been having an affair with his boss' daughter and his boss threatens to ruin him if he does not marry his daughter. Ajay's engagement to Pallavi is broken off and Parvati suggests that Pallavi be married to Kamal, the third brother. The family is happy with this solution and agrees - but the marriage also sows the seed of hatred in Pallavi's heart. She now has one mission in life - to destroy the Agarwals.
Pallavi's designs are aided by the insecurities of her mother-in-law and the gullible nature of her sister-in-law, Chaaya, who is coping with a failed marriage. But Chaaya has got wise to Pallavi's schemes.

Parvati in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii all these years. The power of the persona and the force of her ideals is such that Parvati has not remained confined within a fictional world but is a living, breathing character for millions of Indians. She is one of us, the bahu every saas wants, the daughter every father wants and the wife every groom would love to have. She is the ideal daughter-in-law who keeps everyone happy and strives to maintain harmony in the house. We tune in every night to watch her battle yet another situation for the family - always through self-sacrifice, following the right way, even when the family which she wants to protect doubted her and turned against her.
After learning the truth about Om's death, Parvati rises against convention and tradition and decides to take the course which seems right for her. Taking up the crusade, Pravati comes to know Om's death was not a natural death, but there was an invisible hand behind it. The hand of a man who ironically she was coming to slowly trust. Business Tycoon Suyash Mehra who was ostensibly helping her, is now responsible for killing the man she loved the most. The trigger is so strong and defying all tradition and convention. Parvati has decided to take revenge. This time, not for anybody else, but for the love and memory of the person she truly admired. This is the new Parvati, daring, motivated and unpredictable.
