Kagrra, ("Kagrra," with comma, spoken the same as "神楽" kagura), formerly "Crow", is a visual kei band dually signed to Columbia Music Entertainment and indie label PS Company, which also has contracts with Miyavi, Kra, Gazette, and Alice Nine. Kagrra, has a defining traditional Japanese feel to their music and costumes that distinguishes them from the myriad of Japanese visual kei bands.

[edit] Information
The band formed in October 1998 under the name "Crow", along with a 'sister-band' named Lar~Mia. They were both attached to Key Party, and called themselves informally "black feathers" and "white feathers", respectively. However, by the first quarter of 1999, Crow left Key Party and signed with PS Company, changing their name to Kagrra in the process. Once they had their major debut in January 2004, PS Company retitled them to Kagrra, adding a comma to their name.
[edit] History
Sometime in 1998, Isshi, Izumi and Nao came together to form a band, and put out advertisements to find guitarists. They were joined shortly afterward by Akiya and Shin, and Crow was born. In June 1999, they released a demotape entitled Hyakuyae. Not much information is available about their Crow days, unfortunately.
Come June of 2000, they performed under the name of Kagrra for the first time, and in the same month recorded Kotodama. Their first album, Nue, was released December 2000, and after being sold fairly fast, Nue was a second pressing the following March.
Also in that March, Kagrra, performed live in Shibuya]], released their second album Sakura, and their official fanclub, auga, opened. During the summer of 2001 four singles, each tied to the themes of the four seasons, were released - fuyu, aki, natsu and haru. In September, together with Kagerou and Dué le quartz, Kagrra toured Hong Kong, and October saw the release of their third album, Irodori.
Kagrra’s first live recording, a VHS tape entitled Fuunroku, was released on March 6th, 2002, and no more than a month later came out their first maxi-single: Yume Izuru Chi. The same year witnessed also the release of two maxi-singles, a mini album, and finally their first full album entitled Gozen.
2003 abounded with releases as well: two maxi-singles, mini album, their first live DVD. In December Kagrra performed their last indies gig. On January 1st, 2004 released their first major single, Urei. March 3rd brought their first major album Miyako as well as a concert on March 3rd (which is Hina Matsuri "Doll Festival") entitled "~Inishie no tobira ga ima...~" Which is the first spoken line of one of their first songs, from back in their Crow days "Hyakki yakou". They generally play concerts on Hina Matsuri, but unlike the others this one was not limited to females only. In the following month their last indies live was released on DVD, and a DVD of the Hina Matsuri concert was released in July.
On December 20th, Kagrra, performed at the Shibuya Kokaido, which was recorded for a DVD release in early 2005. During the second song, however, a malfunction with the pyrotechnics filled the hall with smoke and the band and audience were evacuated for approximately 40 minutes. A DVD was supposed to be released with the full live footage of this concert, but was instead put on a selective clips DVD that came with the DVD for their April 14th concert at Shibuya-AX entitled "Sara ~natsukashi no rakuen~".
