This little town is cool. As it is close to the boarders of Kerala, you can see a range of mountains guarding this little beautiful town. The hot seasons are cooled by breeze from the mountains and it is also sheltered by them during the heavy year-end rain falls.

There are a large number of muslim community in here. A lot of them have established connections in Malaysia, especially in the state of Penang and in Singapore during the second world war period. In the last three dacades, a huge number of this muslim community left the shores for Middle east in search of jobs. This has now altered the dependance of farming.

The segregation by religion is very apprant in this little town. However, apart from one religious violence in the 70s, they live hormoniously respecting each others traditions and utilising each others' knowledge and strengths in vairous trades.

Another significant feature of this place is the numerous numbers of lakes and ponds in every street.
