[edit] Box Office

27 crores is the net gross.Lets just stick to the total gross since most movies in wikipedia have just raw gross(ie 72 crores in 1 week according to THE HINDU 21st Aug.

[edit] Urmila Matondkar

Urmila Matdgdgondkar is NOT in this film. IMDB has posted wrong information. Cast of KANK, that has been officially posted on the Dharma Prodcution website does not include Urmila.

i watched the movie today and the film is really good, no urmilla is not in the picture and ranis name is maya, she looks and has acted brilliantly

[edit] Please do not post wrong information!

A number of people have been posting wrong or irrelevant information on this page. Please stop doing so.

[edit] Regarding Urmilla being in the film

Please quote sources who has confirmed Urmilla being in the film. --Soumyasch 10:39, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

IMDb says that Urmila Matondkar is in this movie. I seriously doubt that Dharma Productions would list the entire cast & crew for the sake of cameos. Anyways, IndiaFM.com has posted entirely different information (also, when it comes to the names of the characters), so I guess the cast will be open for debate until the day the movie is finally released. I suggest we wait until then (maybe the Kajol-fact will be confirmed, too, or not). --Plumcouch 16:49, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Kajol does appear in KANK, standing beside a piano dancing with Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan, during the song "Rock And Roll Soniye." There are a handful of clips of it at YouTube.com Pellmelody 00:51, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cast names

Dev, Maya, Rishi(nickname for Rishabh) and Sam are the official cast names.

[edit] Synopsis

The synopsis section has been copied from IMDb. It amounts to copyright infringement. It should be either drastically reworded or quoted to IMDb. Otherwise the page may get labelled with a copyright violation tag. --Soumyasch 06:02, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

It sounds like an advert as well. --Soumyasch 06:25, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cast and Plot

There plot summary is inconsistent in the names of the charcters - Rani mukerji is referred to as bot Shalini and Maya. So can someone please give references from where the plot summary is found? It will help solve the problem once and for all. --Soumyasch 06:03, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

There needs to be some rewriting done on the character descriptions. They reflect a bias towards particular characters without giving a true defination on the characters and his/her motivations, esp. the character write up for "Sexy Sam". It reflects the writer's personal opinions, not a true, neutral description. Pellmelody 00:45, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Character names

The last line of Plot summary refereed to the charcters off SRK and Rani as Dev and Maya, but the rest of the article as Jai and Shalini. I am updating the last line to be in sync with the rest. Tha names of characters referred to in this article, have been changed many times, reflecting the confusion surrounding. So please cite references before modifying the said info further. Please modify the article if you find a credible source giving the names of the characters. --Soumyasch 06:09, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] KANK CHARACTER NAMES

RANI is MAYA. SRK is DEV. ABHISHEK is RISHI. AMITABH is SAM

PREITY is RHEA/RIYA (INDIA FM). KIRRON KHER AND ARJUN RAMPAL - GUEST APPEARANCE - NAME UNKNOWN

[edit] SYNOPSIS

Is there a verifiable source to the synopsis? Bollywoodbombay 22:00, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Bollywoodbombay

It seems as if anon 82.36.141.124, does not want the synopsis. I don't think anyone else has a problem with the synopsis being there. Anyone who is interested please come to discuss, and anon if you are reading this can you please explain why you don't want the synopsis. Also why did you remove the still. Pa7 13:13, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Should the synopsis be this long? A synopsis is supposed to be brief. - unni 01:12, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

I second that... the synopsis is almost as long as the movie... Looks like the film's PR came and wrote it. Can we do something about it? Anagha 06:19, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Synopsis deleting

hey im the one who deleted the synopsis, sorry guys didnt know you were soo dedicated! Anyway the reason being is that i dont think its right to give the story away for all those who dont want to know it. If youre intrigued by the story then you should keep it to yourself. Anyway just want to apologise and it wont happen again. Cant wait for the film to relaese and i havent read the synopsis so lookin forward to a surprise storyline.

[edit] Citations

This article does not cite the origins from which the Director's Note and the quotes in the Trivia section are derived from. - unni 01:18, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New York Times

This movie was talked about in regards to a new trend in Bollywood diverging from more traditional values. Here is a copy online. I figured it's about the most notable source we usually get for Bollywood films. gren グレン 05:02, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Great movie, no?

Opinions?

[edit] Sloppy & unsourced sentence about "poor word of mouth"

The media has said the film has a poor word of mouth but this is not true unless they have made this film a special case and are talking about the word of mouth in places like Hissar or Hanumangarh when normally for every film its Mumbai or Delhi.

Besides this being an unclear run-on sentence, it needs sourcing. Which media outlets or writers or commentators are referred to? What counter-evidence do we have that it has good word of mouth in spite of said unnamed media sources saying it has poor word of mouth? --Jim Henry 23:01, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Controversy

Someone more knowledgeable than me should add something about the controversy surrounding the movie ... There was even an article in a Norwegian newspaper mentioning this (as one of their "strange facts from abroad" features)... I don't know how much there is too this though.
