Be careful. Most guidelines on articles generally show that only one instance of wiki-linking is necessary, like in the case of the 60 degree v6.

That's nice that your friend thinks that and all, but I hardly think Wikipedia would consider that a reliable source. I'm simply making a point that before you go ahead and start changing a major template, you bring the changes up and discuss it with all of the editors involved.
