K56FB

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

K56FB is a low-powered television station in Albuquerque, NM. It is owned by Ramar Communications and broadcasts on UHF channel 56. It signed on in 1994 as a music video outlet called "The Box" which played current music videos that each had a three digit code that viewers could request via a 1-900 telephone number. On January 1, 2001 "The Box" was replaced by MTV2 after MTV networks had purchased The Box. However the music video format on Ch. 56 was discontinued in 2002. It was temporarily replaced by programming from sister station KTEL-LP channel 53, a Telemundo affiliate. Eventually channel 56 began broadcasting home shopping programming from the Jewelry Television network which it currently runs. The station was granted a construction permit in 2005 to move to channel 47.
