Kanapathipillai, Subramaniam, Balachandran is a well known Radio actor, Script writer, Producer from Radio Ceylon ( Now known as SriLanka Broadcasting Corporation). He started as a Script writer for monthly live recordings like "Maththappu", "Kuthugalam" and "Kathambam" . He wrote comedy skits for these popular programs recorded at Studio 6 of Radio Ceylon in front of the live audience. The BBC trained Drama Producer Sana (Mr.Shanmuganathan)produced these shows on last sundays of every month and listeners flocked to see their favourite stars as TV was an unknown commodity those days. In 1970, Balachandran was selected as an A Grade artiste of SLBC and started acting in National Service Dramas broadcast on saturday nights.

KS Balachandran continues to entertain audiences the world around through his comedy prime entertainment piece, 'THE WONDERFUL YT LINGAM SHOW'. This show airs on TVI (Tamil Vision Intl.) in North America and on TTN in Europe and the Middle East. This living legend has been awarded numourous accolades and is a well respected, well rounded artist of the current times.
