K. Dock Yip

K. Dock Yip LLB (葉求鐸; pinyin: Yè Qiúduó) (1906-2001) was the first Chinese-Canadian lawyer and the second youngest son of Yip Sang, a prominent Chinese merchant in Vancouver in the 1900s.
K. Dock Yip graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1945 and help to bring about the repeal of the Chinese Immigration Act of 1923. He was an important community leader in Toronto Chinatown. In 1985, he played the role of a tong leader in the movie Year of the Dragon starring Mickey Rourke. He continued to practice until his death.
