Kārlis Zāle

Kārlis Zāle (born 28 October 1888, Mažeikiai, Lithuania; died 19 February 1942, Incukalns, Latvia) was a Latvian sculptor.
After training in Russia and Germany he returned to Riga, where he both worked in sculpture and taught it. He is best known for his monumental sculptures, including The Common Graves and the Freedom Monument in Riga.
