Köln Messe/Deutz railway station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Köln Messe/Deutz is a railway station in Cologne, Germany. It is situated next to the Rhine river and just several hundred metres away from Köln Hauptbahnhof, the city's main station.
Deutz station serves an important function in providing some relief for the Köln Hauptbahnhof bottleneck - some ICE services call at Köln-Deutz instead at Köln Hbf, eliminating the need for changing direction.

Köln-Deutz has several tracks, ten from east to west, and two from north to south. The north-south tracks, also referred to as Köln Messe/Deutz (tief), are situated under the east-west tracks, which connect the station to the main station via the Hohenzollern bridge. Usually services of all kind call at the station, but the situation is different in 2007, because Deutz(tief) is closed due to construction work on the tracks to Köln-Mülheim. Currently the only long-distance service calling at Köln-Deutz is Thalys, as Deutz is the final station before pulling into the Deutzerfeld marshalling yard. Connections to local traffic are provided by a subterranean Stadtbahn station.
