The material I've been able to find so far suggests Jymie Merritt is still alive. If you know otherwise, please change the article. I'll be looking for further information about this.

Found the further information. He's still with us.

12/05/2005 My source for the expanded article is Jymie Merritt himself. He has been dismayed to see himself credited with inventing the Ampeg bass and does not know how this misinformation came to be written and proliferated.

The Devin Leonard comment that I quote appeared in a Philadelphia paper called The Welcomat--no longer under that name--March 19, 1986. The section was called After Dark. 68.162.75.164 23:47, 5 December 2005 (UTC)Ave Merritt
