[edit] Welcome
I saw that you joined the US military project. Always good to have new people on board. If your interest is in MoH articles I would suggest that you get in touch with User:ERcheck as he has done tons of work in this area and may be able to help you out. Might not be a bad thing for you to coordinate your efforts as well. Again, welcome aboard and if you ever need anything just drop me a line.--Looper5920 23:42, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome to the Military history WikiProject!
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated quite regularly. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered as a link, but several other formats are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Starting some new articles? Our article structure guidelines outline some things to include.
- Interested in working on a more complete article? The military history peer review and collaboration departments would welcome your help!
- Interested in a particular area of military history? We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, or periods.
- Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every military history article in Wikipedia.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill Lokshin 00:06, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of African American Medal of Honor recipients
Wow! Your work on this article in the past 24 hours can only be called a labor of love ... thnx fer yer efforts. :-) --Dennette 22:19, 23 August 2006 (UTC) (WebMaster, www.366th.org)
- Hey thanks, I just thought it was something that should be done. The list is finished now, but it needs some notes and wikification. Your contribution was much appreciated! Jwillbur 23:01, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- Adding the pictures was an especially nice touch ... I scanned the one of John R. Fox back in 1995 when I first set up the Web site for the 366th, and added it to his Wiki page when I discovered it a few months ago. FYI, here's a photo of my father with Bill Clinton at Fox's MoH ceremony in 1997. One of my earliest memories is Pop complaining about how Fox's sacrifice had been ignored, and the posthumous award of the DSC in 1982 only infuriated him even more. --Dennette 23:30, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately I can't take credit for the design of the page (such as adding the pictures), I modelled it after the very well done List of Hispanic Medal of Honor recipients. Very cool stuff about your father. I'm assuming since he was at the ceremony that he had something to do with getting them recognized. Many thanks to him for that, their actions may have been forgotten without people like him. Jwillbur 00:41, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

FYI, I've been following your lead and adding Category:Black history in the United States military tags on black MoH recipients' pages, and in some cases fixing tags so that they will be alphabetized correctly. --Dennette 01:42, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Haitian people stubs
Hello there!
I see that you enjoy adding information on Haiti. I am very happy to meet another editor that works consistently on changing Wikipedia's Systematic bias. I myself like creating articles on African subjects, particularly trying to fill in the missing biographies, stub-sorting (and creating) and some missing geographic distrcts etc. Anyway, I was keeping a close eye on on the stub proposals and today, the Haitian people stubs was approved. This was sorely lacking. Anyway, I went ahead and created it and began sorting it. Since you proposed it, you will probably want to begin sorting. Enjoy!--Thomas.macmillan 15:35, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Americal
The bot replaced "Americal" with "American" in the Michael Crescenz article. The problem is, there really is an Americal Division, it is not a typo. I have reverted the edit. - Jwillbur 23:37, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- Indeed there is, and worse, I even knew it too. I've taken 'Americal' out of my spelling correction list. Thanks for the tip, CmdrObot 23:57, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Banque de la République d'Haïti
Hi. Don't you think that the central bank of Haiti should be placed in the Economy of category, just like every single other country in the world? And don't you think that someone looking at Category:Banks of the Caribbean would miss this bank if it were not there? The purpose of categories is not to avoid redundancy per se, it is to create a useful encyclopedia. I must say, I have no idea what you are doing here. --McTrixie/Mr Accountable 18:36, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hello. I made the category you created, Category:Banks of Haiti, a sub-category of both Category:Economy of Haiti and Category:Banks of the Caribbean. So, since Banque de la République d'Haïti is already in the "Banks of Haiti" category, there is no need for it to be in both the parent cats as well. Someone looking at Category:Economy of Haiti will see Category:Banks of Haiti there, and someone looking at Category:Banks of the Caribbean will see Category:Banks of Haiti there too. Does that make sense? Good work on all the Caribbean bank articles, by the way. Jwillbur 19:02, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- Haiti is unique in that its central bank is not listed in its Economy of category. I am certainly not going to work on Caribbean articles; it is just too difficult. --McTrixie/Mr Accountable 19:04, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, I forgot that it was a central bank. I suppose in that case it can go in the Economy of category too. I will put it back. - Jwillbur 19:11, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] History of the British Virgin Islands
On 15 Feb 2007 you put the Caribbean Wikiproject banner on History of the British Virgin Islands and it was assessed (correctly in my view) as "start class". I have subsequently completely amended and restated it (I have actually been working on the replacement article since November of last year). Given nothing of the original article remains, I would suggest that it now be listed for re-assessment. Thanks! --Legis (talk - contributions) 09:01, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello, the Fazal Mohammed article was restored as a result of a discussion on the WP:DRV talk page. [edit] DEFAULTSORT
If you are going to run around slapping the DEFAULTSORT: magic word on articles, you might as well pay attention to what you are doing, and not just copy previously missorted stuff as you did at Carlton Baugh, Jr. with the "Baugh Jr., Carlton" sort key. The Jr. comes at the end: "Baugh, Carlton Jr.". The comma and space are conventional between lastname and firstname, no clear usage has developed as to whether or not there is a comma as well as a space before the Jr. Gene Nygaard 05:17, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] AWB assessment
Hello there. I just recently saw a comment for a recent AWB edit of yours that said that there was a plugin for assessing articles via AWB. Now, I downloaded the plugin, but I have no clue how to work it, nor do I know if I downloaded in to the right spot/installed it correctly. Could you help me out here? Thanks. └Jared┘┌talk┐ 22:10, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Haiti-me
That is a list I made on a user page (I thought). It's just a list of articles I was working on and isn't supposed to be an article. I'm not really clear how that happens. I made a page like a sandbox page but that one has ended up in the article space. What do I do to "userfy" it? Sincerely, Mattisse 21:58, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
- In fact, I still have the list in my sandbox, so I don't know how that came about with a haiti- sub and everything. It can just be deleted. Thanks, --Mattisse 22:03, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
-
- Thanks! Maybe that is why I thought I already had it -- because you had but it there before I looked! Sincerely, --Mattisse 22:11, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] SatyrBot and WP:Caribbean to-do list
Two questions:
- You want the output to go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Caribbean/To-do list and Wikipedia:WikiProject Caribbean/Small to-do list, not to their talk pages, right?
- You're only the second WP the bot's doing this for, so the frequency is up to you. LGBT asked for it to be done nightly, and that seems excessive to me, but how ever often you'd like, I can do it :)
Thanks! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 02:33, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Great! It's set up to run tonight. <crosses fingers> :) -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 01:39, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
-
- Thanks - I think I've fixed it so WP:CARIBBEAN only gets the WP:CARIBBEAN entries :) -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 19:00, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
