[edit] Drummers

Anyone who has been to an A's game, especially if they sit in the left-field bleachers, knows that the main drummer always wears a shirt that says "Duke" - referring to the Justin Duchscherer. Is this a good thing to put in the "trivia" section or is it TOTALLY and COMPLETELY irrelevent? serlmano 05:28, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

The latter.  ;-) Can't sleep, clown will eat me 05:45, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Sorry champ, but you don't know anything on this subject. You are only editing this page to boost your your virtual ego.

I Disagree. I think it is great trivia and know Justin would like that.

Whoever removed Serlmano's post about the drummers is absolutely wrong. I suggest he or she reread the Wikipedia Terms of Use Policy and Posting Guidelines before attempting to vandalize the page in his or her self interests. The information about the drummers is not only factual and verifiable, it is also widely held cultural knowledge for anybody who knows anything remotely about the Oakland team and the pitcher in question, Duchscherer. If you want verification of the fact, turn on an A's game and look into the left field bleachers. Or better yet, go to a game and see for yourself. Ethnographic research is a valid and accepted method of research. But of course, apparently that's too much work for some people and some trigger-happy moderators.

The one thing I fault Serlmano on is posting it in a "trivia" subheading. This is, according to Wikipedia's "five pillars," not allowed. However, trivia can also be construed as fact, simply depending on how one organizes the phrase. I ask Can't sleep, clown will eat me and whoever revised Serlmano's addition to the article to read a few lines up in the five pillar policy, which reads, "All articles must follow our no original research policy and strive for accuracy; Wikipedia is not the place to insert personal opinions, experiences, or arguments." Opinion? Nope. Experience? Nope. Arguments? Only if you continue to uphold the incorrect moderation. The addition by Serlmano is not only verifiable and pertainable to Duchscherer, but it is necessary and widespread knowledge for anybody who would happen to read the page. Sure, if the added trivia was something that did not even pertain to Duchscherer, such as the fact that GM Billy Beane owns a share in the team, that would be one thing. However, that is not what is in question.

I suggest the moderator "can't sleep" take a very close look at the Wikipedia Terms of Use Policy before making anymore questionable edits. In addition, I hope next time he or she consult the subject prior to passing faulty judgment. The only thing worse than having too much history is having petty revisionists alter the past to suit their cyber-ego.
