Justine Larbalestier

Justine Larbalestier (variously pronounced Lar-bal-est-ee-er, Lar-bal-est-ee-air, or Lar-bal-est-ee-ay) is an Australian author of young adult fiction, best known for her Magic or Madness trilogy: Magic or Madness, Magic Lessons and the forthcoming Magic's Child. She also wrote one adult non-fiction book, the Hugo-nominated The Battle of the Sexes in Science Fiction (Best Related Book, 2003), and edited another, Daughters of Earth: Feminist Science Fiction in the Twentieth Century. She is an Honorary Research Associate at the School of English, Art History, Film and Media at the University of Sydney.

Justine was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. She still lives there, but travels frequently and spends a lot of time in New York City.

In 2001, Justine married fellow author Scott Westerfeld.
