Justin is a fictional character on the ABC television series Desperate Housewives. The character is played by actor Ryan Carnes. Justin is Gabrielle Solis' former gardener and John Rowland's roommate. Coming out as gay shortly into Season 1, he formed a sexual relationship with Andrew Van De Kamp which lasted until Season 3. He has not appeared since.
[edit] History
Justin first appears in Season 1 as John Rowland's roommate, and is privy to his affair with Gabrielle. Justin is in denial about his sexuality and tries to blackmail Gabrielle into having sex with him to become heterosexual. She, however, refuses but helps him to admit he is gay to himself. Afterwards, his relationship with Andrew, which up until that point had merely been fooling around, becomes more serious. Ironically, Justin is later beaten up by Carlos Solis who mistakenly believes he is having an affair with Gabrielle.
In season two, Andrew confides in Justin that he had to stop loving his mother because he didn't want to get hurt anymore, and that Bree had to be punished because she said he was damned for his sexuality. When Andrew needed fuel for his emancipation bid, he forced his boyfriend to hit him and passed off the bruises as having been inflicted by Bree. Justin was also with Andrew when he told his mother he would accuse her of molesting him if she didn't let him go. Justin tended throughout his screentime to do whatever Andrew wanted.
Justin is heartbroken when he finds out Andrew is planning to leave for Rhode Island with his grandparents, and when Bree asks him why, replies:
When my parents first heard I was gay, they kicked me out. They said I had "debased" the entire family and that they couldn't love me anymore until I had changed. But Andrew, said that I should be ashamed of them because they were too stupid to know how great I was. That's the thing about Andrew, he doesn't take crap from anyone. How can you not love someone like that?
Bree then persuades Justin to supply her with gay magazines and videos, which she plants among Andrew's things for his grandparents to find; they then leave Andrew behind, and revoke his trust fund. Having seen Justin's love for Andrew, Bree becomes more accepting of his and Andrew's relationship, and regularly invited him to dinner. After Bree left Andrew on the streets, he and Justin apparently broke up. The series never revealed what happened, but it's likely if Andrew found out that Justin was involved in the loss of his trust fund, he broke up with him. His current whereabouts are unknown.
