Junwi is a Korean military rank which is the equivalent to a Warrant Officer in other countries. The rank of Junwi only exists in South Korea with the North Korean military having no equivalent.
When comparing to the United States armed forces, a Junwi is generally rated as equal to a Chief Warrant Officer 3. Junwi is a combined rank and exists in all branches of the South Korean armed forces. The insignia is annotated by a gold officer pip or, for the Republic of Korea Navy, a broken officer stripe.
To be a Junwi is considered a tremendous honor in the Korean military, and those who obtain the rank typically hold more then thirty years of military service.
