Jun-Ichi Nishizawa

Jun-Ichi Nishizawa(西澤潤一, born September 12, 1926 in Sendai, Japan) is a Japanese engineer known for his invention of optical communication systems (including optical fiber,laser diode etc.), PIN diode and SIT/SITh (Static Induction Transistor/Thyristor). He is also known as "Father of Japanese Microelectronics".
He received IEEE Edison Medal in 2000.
IEEE has founded Jun-ichi Nishizawa Medal in 2002.
