[edit] Song information

The song was featured in the motion picture adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada along with another Madonna song, "Vogue".

"Jump", unlike "Vogue", was not included on the soundtrack of the film when it was released.

The single has not been released in France or Japan. Japan being ironic due to the strong attention the other three singles from Confessions on a Dance Floor received and also because the music video was shot there.

The music video was shot in Japan. Madonna is seen wearing a short, platinum blonde wig in a sequence captured on a sound stage. The video also features dancers performing parkour through the streets of Tokyo. Many of the various signs and billboards on the storefronts and buildings have been altered to read, "Madonna", and "Jump", in Japanese. Madonna shot the video while on the Japanese leg of her Confessions Tour. [4] The video premiered on AOL, then VH1 in the US, and on Channel 4 in the UK, all on October 4, 2006. As of November 17, the Jump music video became available on iTunes. The video received The Golden Video Plaque on the popular MTV Poland chart-show "The Interactive Chart" after spending 40 days on the countdown.

Madonna's look in the video appears to be an homage to the Japanese manga Death Note character Mello. The manga is published by Shueisha.

The opening lines of this song subtly pay homage to the Pet Shop Boys song titled "West End Girls". Pet Shop Boys remixed Madonna's song "Sorry".

[edit] Charts

[edit] Chart performance

In the U.S. "Jump" peaked on the Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary chart at number 21. It has also peaked at #1 on all 3 of the US Dance Charts (Dance Club Play, Dance Single Sales, and Dance Radio Airplay), along with the Billboard Single Sales chart. "Jump" is also Madonna's 37th #1 single on the Billboard Dance Club Play chart.

In the UK, Jump has become Madonna's fourth successive Top 10 hit from the Confessions on a Dancefloor album, peaking so far at number 9, a year to the week since "Hung Up" topped the chart. This chart position was considerably good due to the fact that many stores in the UK were not stocking the single. In Australia, the song debuted in the top 30 in November.
