Jumbolair

Jumbolair Aviation Estates is an aviation-related residential development located in Marion County, Florida. The gated community is located in Anthony, approximately 9 km (6 mi) north of Ocala, Florida and east of Interstate 75.

The property developer is Terri Jones, a former Revlon model and flying enthusiast. At the core of the development is a 32 ha (80 acre) horse ranch formerly owned by Muriel Vanderbilt and purchased by Jones' first husband Arthur Jones in 1980. The 220 ha (550 acre) development features large tracts of land situated alongside the 7,550 ft (2,300 m) paved runway of Greystone Airport. Each two to three acre lot is connected by taxiways leading to the runway. Separate streets keep motor vehicles away from aircraft. As of January 2007 litigation is preventing all property owners in the subdivision, except John Travolta, from accessing the runway with their aircraft.

One of the first purchasers in the development was actor John Travolta and his wife, actress Kelly Preston. The runway length allows Travolta, an avid pilot, to operate his Boeing 707 jet. The jet caused controversy at Travolta's previous fly-in residence at Spruce Creek near Daytona Beach, Florida.

According to recent FAA documents, the main runway (18/36) is in a such a degraded state that it is virtually unusable by anything but the smallest aircraft.[1]
