Jumbo Machinder
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Jumbo Machinder is a line of Japanese die-cast toys that are large robots. They were first produced in the early 1970's by the Japanese toy company Popy (a division of Bandai).
The first Jumbo Machinder was of the heroic magna character Mazinger Z, a fictional Super Robot. With measurements of over 22 inches tall, and made of polyethylene (the same material used for shampoo bottles) the Jumbo Machinder line would pave the way for other companies to release their own versions of licensed character toys of similar size.
When the Mazinger Z machinder was released, it sold approximately 400,000 units in its first five months in stores.
[edit] In America
The Jumbo Machinder line proved to be so successful overseas that American toy company Mattel subsequently imported a select few, packaging them with sometimes different features, offering them under the Shogun Warriors banner.
