Jumada-l-Ola and Jumada-l-Akhra
These are the fifth and sixth months of the calendar. The origin of the word is as follows: the word Jumda, from which the name of the month is derived, is used to denote dry parched land: land devoid of rain, and hence denote the dry months
[edit] Timing
The Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar, and months begin when the first crescent of a new moon is sighted. Since the Islamic lunar calendar year is 11 to 12 days shorter than the solar year, Jumada al-Awwal migrates throughout the seasons. The estimated start and end dates for Jumada al-Awwal are as follows (all future dates are estimates):
- 1426 AH – First day: June 8, 2005; last day: July 7, 2005
- 1427 AH – First day: May 29, 2006; last day: June 27, 2006
- 1428 AH – First day: May 18, 2007; last day: June 16, 2007
