Professor Juma Athuman Kapuya is the Minister of Defense and National Security in Tanzania beginning in 2006. He is a Member of Parliament in the Tanzanian National Assembly, representing the Urambo West constituency. He is a member of the governing party, CCM.

Prior to his government service, Professor Kapuya was a professor of botany at the University of Dar es Salaam.
