[edit] Early life and career
Huddy was born in Miami Beach, Florida at Mount Sinai Hospital. She graduated from high school in 1987 and went onto study at the University of Missouri.
Soon after finishing her degree there she began her news journalism career at age 21 as a reporter/producer for KARO-FM's morning newscast in Columbia, Missouri. She later relocated to Ventura, California to join KADY-TV- a station owned by her mother and father- where she initially worked as the station's promotions director and executive producer but later turned to reporting at the Ventura County News Network. The station later went bankrupt and was sold.
Huddy became a NAPTE Award finalist for her work there. After more than 5 years working in California, Huddy again relocated, this time to Jacksonville, Florida to work for WAWS as a general assignment reporter for the station's nightly newscast. She was also a news anchor for WQRK-FM's morning radio program The Lex and Terry Show.
[edit] At Fox News
She joined Fox News in March 1998 as a reporter at the Miami bureau, but later on moved over to the New York studios where she presented a variety of news programs, occasionally filled in for E.D. Hill on Fox & Friends during the week. She also was a rotating co-host of Fox and Friends 1st, later becoming a permanent co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend, alongside Mike Jerrick and Julian Phillips.
In the summer of 2005, Huddy began co-hosting Dayside with Mike Jerrick, a program featuring a live studio audience. She had also started a blog on the Dayside homepage, called Juliet's DaySide Dish [1]. During the time Huddy co-hosted on the program, the ratings increased versus when the show was hosted by Linda Vester [2].
[edit] Popularity
Through her time on Fox, Juliet gained a noticeable popularity particularly among male viewers [3]. She frequently wore short skirts on-camera, and she often trades jokingly flirtatious banter with male presenters, especially Jerrick[citation needed].
In August 2005, she was named Television's Sexiest Newswoman by the New York entertainment magazine Steppin' Out[4]. The issue, which featured Huddy on the cover in a trademark short skirt, quickly became the most distributed issue of the magazine ever - a further testament to her popularity. She is generally considered a sex symbol.
[edit] Move to syndication
During the summer of 2006, Fox News announced that the network would cease production of their weekday news/talk show, Dayside, in addition to the news that Fox Broadcasting was planning to produce a new morning news show for syndication, beginning with television stations owned by the Fox Television Stations Group. The new program, alike to Dayside, would be hosted by Mike and Juliet, requiring them to leave Fox News for the syndicated program.
When announced, the program was initially promoted to feature elements of both programs the hosts have been apart of, Dayside and Fox & Friends. When officially launched, on January 22, 2007, The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet aired with both hosts [5], Juliet producing a video blog for the program.
[edit] Personal life
Huddy was married to Dan Green (current anchor at KSBW)for five-years. At the time, he was the main anchor at KADY. The marriage ended in divorice and Huddy moved to Jacksonville, Florida to work for WAWS & WQRK-FM. After relocating to New York, she was briefly married a second time, but the union ended in divorce in 2005. Since then, she has been linked to several people, including former Illinois Senate candidate Jack Ryan [6].
Recently, Huddy has been seeing Dave Salmoni, a zoologist.[citation needed] This relationship began on air after Salmoni appeared on Dayside to promote his new documentary about lions on the Discovery Channel (see [7]. Since then, Salmoni has appeared on Dayside on a number of occasions, either contributing to a news story as a wild animal expert or as a member of the audience, where Huddy has referred to him several times as her boyfriend.
Huddy currently works at the New York Fox News Studios and resides in Hoboken, New Jersey.
