The Julie Rose Stadium is a training and sports stadium, owned by Ashford Borough Council, in Kent.
The Julie Rose Athletics Stadium offers state-of-the-art facilities for track and field events in an outstanding setting overlooking a man-made lake at the foot of the scenic North Downs.
The stadium boasts an eight-lane, all weather, 400 metre running track and superb facilities for field events including a pole vault area and two throws cages. An 800-seater grandstand protected from the weather by a striking tensile canopy provides first class viewing for spectators.
Beneath the grandstand is a six-lane indoor running tube which provides ideal conditions for warming up or for wet weather training. It also includes indoor jumping and throwing facilities.
Alongside the indoor straight is a pavilion with a licensed bar, while beneath the throwing practice area is a superbly-equipped fitness suite (Inclusive Fitness Initiative IFI accredited site), designed to cater for athletes and non-athletes who wish to improve their personal level of fitness.
The futuristic tensile canopy which covers the grandstand looks set to become a familiar athletics landmark. Costing almost £500,000 the tensile canopy, which is made of spun glass coated with Teflon, is one of the largest structures of its kind ever made, measuring 86 metres long by 18 metres wide.
The facilities have been designed for use by people of all ages and abilities, and special provision has been made for those with disabilities to participate at track level (Inclusive Fitness Initiative IFI accredited site).
The indoor running tube, airy and spacious with plenty of natural light, can adapt to most functions and can seat more than 350 people. It is ideal for aerobics and other exercise classes or for corporate entertainment.
