Julie Maxton

Dr Julie Maxton is the Registrar, that is head of administration, at Oxford University and a Fellow of University College, Oxford. She is first woman to hold the office in the 550 years since the office was established. Dr Maxton was until recently Professor and Dean of Law at the University of Auckland.
Dr Maxton was born in Scotland and received her university education at University College London, Canterbury University, and the University of Auckland. She has combined her academic career with institutional responsibilities at Auckland – including periods as Dean of Graduate Studies and as Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). For the past 20 years, she has also been a successful practising barrister in New Zealand, where she has concentrated on appellate issues at all levels up to and including the Privy Council.]]
