Julie Dawn Cole (born 26 October 1957 in Guildford, Surrey) is a British actress who first appeared as Veruca Salt, the spoiled daughter of Mr Henry Salt in the 1971 movie, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

Paid a mere £600 for the role, she presented a bouquet of flowers to Princess Margaret at the Royal Premiere - and has since speculated that her mother probably blew her entire earnings for family tickets to the premiere.

The only one of the child actors of the film to continue performing, she has since appeared in a number of British television soaps and mini-series - gaining some brief notoriety for a nude scene as Rowella in the BBC's Poldark II, which was shown well before the traditional 9 p.m. adult watershed.

Her other work includes theatre and pantomime, as well as considerable voice-over work, for which her mellifluous tones are particularly well suited.

A qualified fitness instructor since 1998, she appears in the 2005 ITV series Fat Families as fitness advisor to one of the fat families.

An interesting fact about Cole is whenever her daughter acts bratty, she calls her "Veruca".

She appeared in Emmerdale in 2006.

She recently appeared in a television advertisement for car insurance comparison website confused.com (she is the woman with the dog).
