Julian Gargiulo

Julian Lawrence Gargiulo (b. November 10, 1972) is an Italian-American classical pianist who has been described as “…charismatic and communicative…” (La Fiamma, Sydney) “…fascinating, fun, ambitious and compelling...a volcano of ideas…” (Oggi 7, New York) and “…a marvelous tour de force…” (St. John Times, USVI). He has performed in the United States, Italy, France, Germany, England, Russia and Australia.

Born and educated in Italy, with dual U.S. and Italian citizenship, Mr. Gargiulo studied at the Verona State Conservatory (Aureliana Randone), the Mugi Academy in Rome (Aldo Ciccolini) and the Moscow Conservatory (Veda Zuponcic/Mikhail Mezhlumov). In the United States he received his Master’s Degree at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University (Boris Slutsky), and his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at the University of Maryland (Santiago Rodriguez). Dr. Gargiulo is on the piano faculty at the Westerhoff School of Music and the Dwight Conservatory of NY. He is also the founder and director of both the Sacred Heart Concert Series, a program that brings classical music to underpriviledged communities, and the Water Island Classical Music Festival in the Virgin Islands.

Mr. Gargiulo performs regularly throughout the world in venues such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall (New York Philharmonic Chamber Concert Series), Moscow Conservatory Hall, Verona Philharmonic Hall (Accademia Filarmonica) and the Seymour Theatre Centre. Collaborations include performances with soprano Olga Makarina of the Metropolitan Opera, choreographer Neta Pulvermacher, composer-conductor Octavio Vazquez and trumpet virtuoso Josef Burgstaller (former member of Canadian Brass). TV and Radio appearances include stations such as RAI International (Italy), RAI Tre (Italy), RTN (Russia), Radio One - CBS (USVI), Paradise Radio (USVI), and SBS (Australia).

Mr. Gargiulo currently resides in New York.
