Kanon (カノン, Kanon?) has been adapted into two separate television anime series and a single OVA spanning five years and done by two different animation companies. The first anime series was produced by the Japanese animation studeio Toei Animation which aired between January 30, 2002 and March 27, 2002; it contained thirteen episodes. A single OVA which continued the story after the anime ended and done by the same studio entitled Kanon Kazahana was released on DVD on May 3, 2003 in Japan. The second anime series was produced by Kyoto Animation which aired between October 5, 2006 and March 15, 2007; it contained twenty-four episodes. This version was a remake of the original anime which offered a longer, more detailed story which was more acurate to the original story in the visual novel.
