The U.M. Church is a WORLDWIDE church, not just in the U.S.A. Therefore, it is not correct to say "United Methodist Church in the U.S.A." Thanks. Pastorwayne 16:39, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Sorry, it is true.
Ford is a global company, but it's perfectly accurate to talk of an individual employee as being from "Ford in Germany" or "Ford in Japan".
Same goes for Catholic bishops -- that church too is worldwide. But just as Bishop Daly of Derry, who served his life in Ireland, was a bishop of the Catholic Church, it reamins both accurate and heplful to describe him as a (retired) Bishop of the Catholic Church in Ireland.
Bottom line is, most of these articles about Methodist bishops are referring to people born in the USA, who spent their careers in the USA: to assist the reader, that simple fact should be acknowledged in the opening sentence, and can easily be done in three words. Please don't remove this important geographical information. BrownHairedGirl 17:03, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
