Judson Laipply

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Judson (Jud) Laipply is a motivational speaker and comedian from Cleveland.[1] He is best known for his performance in the Evolution of Dance clip, which is the #1 Most Viewed All Time Video, #1 Top Favorites Video and #1 Most Discussed Video on YouTube.com.[2]

"Evolution of Dance" is the finale to Laipply's show called "Inspirational Comedy".[3] His website describes the show as "combining his thoughts about life and change with humor".[4] In 2002, he began closing many of his college, high school and corporate appearances with his unusual dance medley. It soon became a "crowd favorite".[5]

In the video, Laipply dances to a soundtrack that plays through various popular songs ranging from Elvis Presley to MC Hammer and Michael Jackson. During its initial rise in popularity, it amassed over 10 millions views in under two weeks and was featured on CNN, MSN, E!, USA Today, Good Morning America, The Today Show, AOL, and Google.[citation needed] As of March 29, 2007, the number of views on YouTube.com was greater than 45 million.[6] A recent revision of the dance is three minutes longer including songs such as "Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira, but no public video of it currently exists.
