Judith Lasater

Judith Hanson Lasater is a well-known American yoga teacher and writer, currently living in the San Francisco Bay Area.

She holds a doctorate in East-West psychology and is a physical therapist, and has taught yoga since 1971. Lasater leads workshops throughout the United States, and has taught in various foreign countries. [1]

Lasater is President of California Yoga Teachers Association (CYTA), which she cofounded in 1974.[2]

In addition, Lasater is a founder of the Iyengar Yoga Institute in San Francisco as well as a founder of Yoga Journal magazine, where she continues to serve on the advisory boards.[3]

Lasater has been called "One of the nation’s foremost (yoga) instructors." [4] She has taught in 41 states plus Japan, Peru, Mexico, and England. [4]

Lasater is married to Ike Lasater and is the mother of three grown children.[1]

She has written numerous articles and several books on yoga.
