Judderman

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Judderman is the symbol of an advertising campaign for a brand of schnapps called Metz. An elfin creature, the Judderman waylays innocent travellers and tempts them to taste the alcohol, at which they 'judder' due to its being served cold. The television adverts themselves, being widely admired for their dreamlike and surreal presentation, were reminiscent of programmes from the BBC Tales from Europe series, in particular The Singing Ringing Tree, and so formed something of a cult following. Brisbane MC 'Raman' is said to strongly resemble the "Judderman".

"Beware the Judderman my dear, when the moon is fat. Sharp of tongue and spindle limbed he is, and cunning. With sweetened talk of schnapps and Metz and the deliciousness of Judders - but schnapps though sweet has teeth my dear, and sharpened ones at that. Beware the Judderman my dear, when the moon is fat."
