Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Coco Chavez (Carla Gugino) and Junior Armstrong (Simon Denny-Baker) are two small-time criminals who attempt to break into the big time by kidnapping a computer whiz and holding him for a $4 million ransom. To help them, they enlist Lizard (Gil Bellows) and a hard man, Ruben Rubenbauer (Til Schweiger) to help them. However, during the kidnapping, they accidentally kill the younger wife of a Louisiana Senator (played by Hal Holbrook). Pursuing them are FBI agent Sadie Hawkins (Emma Thompson) and New Orleans Detective David Friedman (Alan Rickman) who have issues of their own. As the plot unfolds, it appears that the murder may not have been entirely accidental and things tend to go downhill for the criminals from there.

Spoilers end here.
