Cinematographer Juan Ruiz Anchia was born in Bilbao, Spain in 1949. He graduated in 1972 from the Escuela Oficial de Cinematografia in Madrid and from the American Film Institute in 1979. His AFI film, Miss Lonelyhearts, won a prize at Cannes Film Festival and was shown on PBS.
