[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Parishiltoncartoon222.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Parishiltoncartoon222.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 17:37, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Material Girls

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. While the Wikipedia community appreciates your obvious efforts to increase the amount of information on the site, we'd like to point out our policy against original research and for citing sources for the information you provide. This increases the reputation of Wikipedia as a whole and aids in checking the factuality of that article. Extraordinary Machine 19:59, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My pictures

You said: "Go to www.google.com and search for paris Hilton cartoon in Images and you will find those pics. So ha."

I'm sorry, I don't understand how that is relevant to anything. We most certainly cannot use an image just because it shows up on Google. --Yamla 03:14, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

You said: "Yea but they released it to the public and so it is OK to use it here. It is a promotioanl photo which is OK to use her. HAHA."

What's your evidence of this? Certainly, the fact that it shows up in Google is not sufficient to indicate this. --Yamla 14:42, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:CheetahGirlsPhotoshootinspain.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:CheetahGirlsPhotoshootinspain.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] WP:BIO

Please read the above link and note that you shouldn't write about yourself, especially when you haven't yet finished doing something of note as stated in our notability criteria. - Mgm|(talk) 08:04, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

  • Writing about a close friend is also not recommended. He hasn't done anything that satisfies our inclusion criteria, and writing about someone you know personally tends to make applying WP:NPOV very hard. - Mgm|(talk) 11:14, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
  • Of course it's something, but to get an entry in an encyclopedia, books have to be finished and published by reputable publishers, clothing lines have to be sold in stores, album have to comply with WP:MUSIC. Also, entries in Wikipedia should have reliable third party sources to show someone who isn't close to the person being described thought they were worth writing about.- Mgm|(talk) 12:01, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
  • Yes, as soon as he meets notability criteria, and as soon as there's reliable sources about him, I see no reason why you couldn't. By the way, I thought it was about yourself since you used the name of the article subject. - Mgm|(talk) 12:05, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:1148424771 l.jpg)

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:1148424771 l.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. [edit] cut-and-paste moving of The Flavorette to I Love New York (TV series)

You shouldn't have reverted it back. If the page is to be moved, it should be done properly. Cut-and-pasting splinters the revision history of the article, which creates problems for the GFDL license. The process has been complicated by your interference. Dancter 05:23, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry if I was rude, but there are other considerations involved than just having the right the content at the correct location, particularly legal ones. I was trying to merge the revision histories back together according to Wikipedia:How to fix cut and paste moves when you reverted. Now that the cut-and-pasted article has since been edited, the history is splintered, and instead of simply deleting the page at I Love New York (TV series) so that The Flavorette can be properly moved there, an administrator has to manually merge the histories of the two pages together. [edit] Image:Tiffany Patterson.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Tiffany Patterson.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. [edit] Route 66 (The Cheetah Girls song)

It's precedent on Wikipedia for information on separate versions of a song to be included in one article only; see, for example, Who's Lovin' You, Hum Along and Dance, Respect (song), I'll Be There, I Heard It through the Grapevine, I Will Always Love You, Lady Marmalade, (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction. You should be cautioned about reverting other people's edits without explanation or discussion, which isn't allowed. Extraordinary Machine 13:41, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Tiffany AKA New York.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

[edit] Fair-use rationales

On Image:ALL IN THIS.jpg, your fair-use rationale is "The use of this image is to display information and not to harm the copyright holders or artists in any way." This is insufficient. You must identify which specific article the image is being used in. You must state why the image contributes meaningfully to the article ("display information" is not sufficient, nor is using the image simply to illustrate the article). You should provide an explanation as to why a freely-licensed image could not be used (though often this is implied... for example, no freely-licensed image of an album cover is likely to be available). Note that the use of the image on the Wikipedia does harm the copyright holders. The whole point of copyright is for the holder to restrict use of the image and here we are using the image without express permission from the copyright holder. --Yamla 18:11, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Once again, your fair-use rationales are entirely insufficient. Please read what I wrote above. --Yamla 21:21, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Ashley Tisdale Album Cover.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Ashley Tisdale Album Cover.jpg. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Cheetah girls

Hi, if they said "in a magazine" (which magazine?) that they were recording the song, could you please add it as a source. I've done a google search and found nothing except Wikipedia and its mirrors. I can't even find anything on their official site. If I'm mistaken, I apologise, however if you could find a source, that would be great. If you can't find a source, then I stand by my original opinion of "it should be removed". thanks Rossrs 08:30, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you. that's all good. Would you like me to add this as a source for you? If so, just send me a message about Blast! magazine. I'll need the page number, the name of the journalist (if there is one credited) and the title of the article, and the date of the magazine. I'll add it as a source and then there'll be no more problem with it. Rossrs 08:50, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
Excellent! Thanks for providing the information about the magazine. I have added it to the article as a source. Cheers Rossrs 08:54, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I Love New York

I Love New York episodes shouldn't be on separate pages, because this would mess up the entire article. Bearly541 11:49, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Okay. By the way, the word is "different." I won't be editing here any more, so it really doesn't matter. Bearly541 21:52, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Cheetahgirlsfree1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Cheetahgirlsfree1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 16:07, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Pledge2.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Pledge2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 16:07, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD Nomination: The Cheetah Girls (TV series)

An editor has nominated the article The Cheetah Girls (TV series) for deletion, under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the nomination (also see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on why the topic of the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome: participate in the discussion by editing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Cheetah Girls (TV series). Add four tildes like this ˜˜˜˜ to sign your comments. You can also edit the article The Cheetah Girls (TV series) during the discussion, but do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top of the article), this will not end the deletion debate. [edit] The Cheetah Girls (girl group)

Hi Jtervin, I was wondering where you wanted to go with the article. I though the concensus of the AFD was to merge the information. But now it appears that you have removed the newly merged information. Dispite the fact that they where missing references for this information there was information out there. (ie.:IMDB is one of the first). I would like to see your comments regarding this at the articles talk page. Thank you. --CyclePat 04:29, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm letting you know about an easier way to rename articles, which is the only way to properly move all its history as well. If you use the "Move" command at the top of the screen, you can move the page to what you wanted it to be. It'll automatically place a redirect at the old page and preserve the history of the article. --wL<speak·check·chill> 08:34, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
