[edit] Loosing the right to vote is no small thing
I am sorry you think that loosing the "right" to vote is not worth anything. I started contributing to Wikipedia (before there were any other projects). I had user number around 10,000. One of the things that thought was really neat about WP was that people did care and did communicate. Maybe at that point it was 1 out of 10 that was really active, now there are millions of "users" and thousands of "donors" but the people who were around at the beginning have started some kind of "pecking order". If Jimbo wants to be head of a "community" why is he so inaccessible? He has money so why doesn't he get an assistant to make sure that us volunteers are listened to. After all we have been the force upon which he has become world famous so the personal aspects of his fame are related to our contributions. When you go and see the Pope you can get an audience and usually the president or head of any organization or group does respond to its members, it even has staff to do that. Here all we get are trite statements about how the Board is going to give the "community" representation. I want people to be on the board who criticize what is going on not just agree all the time. Why didn't anyone vote against changing the bylaws? At least Angela quit when she did not agree with appointing a CEO/General Counsel (which seems to raise issues of conflict of interest, how can one be the lawyer for an organization and also be making all the decisions, the whole point of a GC is to be distinct from the day to day operations of the organization so impartial counsel can be given). Maybe you don't agree with me, but don't think I am a crank just because I have a personal relationship (or lack of it) with some of the Board members. They still have a fiduciary duty to keep the organization paramount not their own interests to promote their friends. Alex756 03:49, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
