User:JRM/Atlas Award
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Atlas Award is a Wikipedian award handed out for efforts in keeping the Sandbox a useful service to everyone, particularly for consistently reverting vandalism to it.
The Award was named after Charles Atlas, a notable bodybuilder from the 1920s. His most famous ad featured a scrawny kid who decides to bulk up after getting sand kicked in his face at the beach; a panel of this ad is the image that accompanies the Atlas Award.
[edit] Handing it out
To hand out the award, copy the following text to the recipient's talk page:
[[Image:AtlasAward.jpg|left|Atlas Award]]You are hereby awarded the Atlas Award for your work in removing undesirable things from the sandbox and not allowing the bullies of the world to kick sand in our collective face. It is now yours. You are therefore entitled to display it prominently, and are encouraged to award it to other deserving editors who have likewise raked the sand clean. Thank you! ~~~~
As with most awards, some personal variation is allowed, as long as the name and the intent of the award are preserved.
