JP Pietersen

Jon-Paul Roger "JP" Pietersen (born 12 July 1986 in Stellenbosch, South Africa) is a South African rugby union footballer. His usual position is at fullback. He plays for the Sharks in the international Super 14 competition as well as the Natal Sharks in the Currie Cup. He was recently included in the Springboks squad.

Pietersen was educated at Hoerskool General Hertzog. It was during the 2005 Currie Cup season that he burst onto the South African rugby scene for the Natal Sharks as a 19-year old. His 2006 Super 14 season was distrupted by injuries, he was however subsequently included in the South African under-21 team to compete at the 2006 Under 21 Rugby World Championship. South Africa made it to the fianl of the event held in France, but they were defeated by the hosts. Upon arriving back to South Africa after the under-21 World Championship he was named in the Springboks' 2006 Tri Nations Series squad.
