Jowai is the headquarters of Jaintia Hills district in the state of Meghalaya in India.

Jowai is the home of the Pnar Tribes. It is a very scenic place which is located on top of a plateau which is surrounded on three sides by the Myntdu river. Situated at an altitude of 1500 m above sea level.
