[edit] Synopsis

On the roof of the high school Yugi recaps Pegasus taking his Grandfather's soul. Joey gets a video tape from his sister Serenity. They were separated when their parents split up. She says that she is running out of time and she won’t be able to see him.

Yugi gets the invitation to Duelist Kingdom. Tristan find out that the tournament winner gets three million dollars. This gets Joey wanting to go. In the street Yugi finds Joey. He is so desperate to go to Duelist Kingdom with him. Yugi talks about when he solved the Millennium Puzzle. Also when Joey and Tristan stole a piece of Yugi’s Millennium Puzzle and threw it away. Then Yugi stood up to a bully so he could protect Joey and Tristan. Then he gets beat up by the bully. The bully gets expelled and Joey returns the piece of the puzzle.

Before the boat leaves for Duelist Kingdom, Joey tries to sneak in but is found out. Tristan and Téa sneak on board the vessel. Yugi gives Joey one of his star chips and is able to get on the boat. On the boat Yugi and Joey meet Mai Valentine who makes fun of Joey's duelling skills. Yugi meets Weevil Underwood and Rex Raptor who have first class rooms. Weevil is looking forward to dueling Yugi.

Weevil tells Yugi some new rules about the tournament. Joey tries to trade some of his cards to make his deck better. Mai is having trouble getting a room with a shower. But Rex decides to show her to his room. Téa and Tristan on deck see Bakura on the boat, a friend from school. Mai challenges Rex to a duel. If Rex wins, Mai will give him a kiss. But if Mai wins Rex has to give up his room.

Joey shows Yugi all the cards he traded. Salamandra, Kunai with Chain, Baby Dragon (1200/800) and Shield and Sword. (Yugi mistakenly calls Baby Dragon a Magic Card.) Yugi gives Joey Time Wizard (500/400).

Weevil appears. Rex and Mai start the duel. Mai is able to see all the cards in her deck before they are played making Rex unconfident. Weevil asks to see the five pieces of Exodia. Weevil has been trying to come up with a strategy to beat Exodia, but he comes up with one and throws them off the boat. Joey dives in after them. After Joey is swept under the water Yugi dives in after him. Téa and Tristan throw a ladder down to help them up.

Rex is kicked out of his room after losing to Mai. Joey and Yugi are back on the boat. Joey could only get two pieces of Exodia. Joey talks about his sister. Serenity is going blind. She cannot afford surgery so Joey plans to win the prize money. They both vow to do their best. Joey for his sister and Yugi for his grandfather.
