Journey to the Centre of Nowhere
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog features killer eggplants who plan to take their revenge on Muriel who is planning to cook one.
[edit] Plot
Underground eggplants see Muriel as a vicious killer. They plot to destroy her, but say they can only do this when the Great Eggplant arrives. Courage discovers the eggplants' plans, and tries to warn Muriel by dressing in an eggplant costume, but ends up in the eggplant lair. The eggplants believe Courage to be the Great Eggplant, and Courage plans to send them to the grocery store, but the eggplant general sees through Courage's disguise and leads the eggplants to the farmhouse. Courage, with the Computer's help, discovers that the only way to calm down these eggplants is to cool them down. Courage finds some water and digs it up, making the eggplants much happier. Muriel and the eggplants make friends.
[edit] Trivia
- A similar idea is in 1000 Years of Courage, which features living bananas.
- This is one of the only episodes where, to explain Muriel about the danger, he dresses in a costume instead of morphing into the monsters like he always does.
- A game based on this episode is available on cartoonnetwork.com, where the player guides Courage to smash the eggplants with a frying pan.
- The idea of a couple of monsters debating and argueing over how to cook a captive seems to be directly influenced by a scene from the Tolkien book, The Hobbit.
