[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Puerto Rico

Hola Joseph. How's it going? I wanted to invite you to become a member of the new project about our pais. If you want to, just click there and list your name where it has the list of writers on the project. As you can see, the page is poorly formatted. I don't know how to build a country-box, but we'll work on it :)

I hope I can see your name there soon! Thanks and God bless you!

[edit] West Virginia Candidate for US Collaboration of the Week

Hey Joseph! I've added West Virginia's main article to the list of candidates for US Collaboration of the Week. It's in much need of reorganization and lacks a lot of information. I was hoping that with some extra exposure and some wiki teamwork we can get the article up to par with other U.S. state articles. Since you've worked on articles concerning West Virginia (such as Green Bank Telescope), I am asking you to please voice your comments and vote at the US Collaboration page. Thanks! --Caponer 18:30, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Eddie Casiano.jpg

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Eddie Casiano.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stan 05:50, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

I would like to present you with thsi Boricua barnstar because you have always been there whenever I've needed you. You are an honest and fair person who always fights against injustices.

You know what really bothers me sometimes? When people who have absolutely no knowledge of Puerto Rico or it's people start to edit those articles. For example, the Military history of Puerto Rico was voted a feature article and it even appeared in the Main Page. Then a year later you get some dumbnut that comes with something like this:

== Featured Article? ==

The article is sadly not one of the best Featured articles out there, and a prime subject for WP:FARC. I'm going to try to improve this article out some in the next few days. Something that could be done is by expanding the lead as it is currently too short. Also needs a copyedit. Thanks --Jaranda wat's sup 06:40, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Use of the word nation regarding Puerto Rico

It seems you don't understand at all. Even if the use of "Nation" can be justified on technical grounds, it still will mislead people. Everyone has convinced themselves that I am trying to denigrate and devalue Puerto Rico, so they shoot down or ignore every fix I suggest, even ones that include "Nation". But the truth is that I am tired of people thinking that my family are illegal immigrants stealing American jobs. Algr 04:38, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lost episodes

You can see the consensus reached about episode guide changes here, and if you would like to help you can signup here. Thanks. Jtrost (T | C | #) 18:55, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Did you not read the links above? Making these types of edits without discussing it with any of the regular editors of the articles is considered hostile. I will not revert your edits because I do not want to start a revert war, but I am strongly urging you to participate in a discussion before making these types of rash decisions. None of the regular Lost editors want separate articles, and unless you can convince us with a good reason other than each episode "deserves" its own article, your bold edits are going to be reverted in the near future. Jtrost (T | C | #) 19:50, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
On second thought I will be unlinking the individual articles from List of Lost episodes until an agreement has been reached. If you wish to make further changes, please review the links to the talk pages in my first post. Jtrost (T | C | #) 19:53, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
All I am asking is that you have some respect for the decisions that we have reached regarding the episode guides. Lost is subject to more fancruft than any other television show I have seen, and having separate articles for each episode will invite even more fancruft. If you want to help with the episode guide, please signup to write a guide for an episode using the guidelines we have agreed upon. As I said before, I do not wish to start an edit war, but by judging from your tone I have no doubt you are willing to engage in one, which is why I will leave your edits alone for the time being. I agree that people should be bold, but the kind of bold that you are being is disruptive. We're trying to make Lost a featured article and you are getting in the way of that. So once again I am strongly urging you to read the discussion that we had regarding the episode guide, and if you have anything further to add you are free to do so. However, the kind of edits you are making are hostile and unwelcome, especially since you are refusing to listen to consensus. Jtrost (T | C | #) 20:12, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Talk:Lost (TV series)/Episode guide is a centralized discussion that was started after discussions popped up on other pages. That is one reason why it's not good to have merge tags on the current episode lists is because the template directs people to the wrong place. However, people keep putting them back in. I never suggested that there is a policy or guideline concerning episode guides. All I have been saying is that us authors who regularly contribute to Lost articles have had a discussion and we as a group reached a consensus. That is how we are going to format the Lost episode guide. The reasons for that have been stated a dozen times over, so you can read them in the discussion. When I said that we're making Lost (TV series) a featured article, that means that all Lost related articles must be up to featured article qualities, and that is what many of us are working so hard to do. Breaking up the episode guide is going to make that a lot more difficult. If you wish to contribute to Lost, please work with us in achieving this goal, not against us. Jtrost (T | C | #) 21:45, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

PLEASE stop reverting my edits. I am having a civilized conversation with you, and by reverting my edits before reaching an agreement you are blantantly ignoring what I am saying. Jtrost (T | C | #) 21:50, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Joseph creating individual episode articles is recommended and an accepted guideline Wikipedia:Centralized discussion/Television episodes however list of lost episodes currently links to itself, you should revert yourself until those articles have been created. As to creating the articles there is community consensus to create them however you do need to convince the lost editors to go ahead with this, treading on their toes doesnt help things. Many users including myself have suggested the same in the past and theres no rush. Discordance 14:44, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

I have read those pages thank you, but it doesnt hurt to try to be nice it would be better all round to have everyones support. For futurama the existing editors did not want to take the time to seperate out their season summaries however one user volunteered to do it and for quite some time there were season summaries and individual episodes. At some point within the last month the season summaries were finally removed as everyone was happy with the new episode articles. Thats how things should be happening here and I do take issue with Jtrost blanking those article pages that Cws125 created, it is inappropriate regardless of what the lost editors have agreed the guideline I linked to above clearly shows season summaries should eventually be phased out into individual articles and blanking another users attempt to do this is quite rude. Discordance 16:57, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

I do not think it was inappropriate. I was simply upholding what we agreed to do. I believe it's inappropriate for people to come in and unilaterally modify a whole category of articles without any consideration to the hard work other authors have put towards those articles. Jtrost (T | C | #) 17:43, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

Please stop using "being bold" as a way to justify your edits. There's a difference between being bold and doing exactly the opposite of what has been thoroughly discussed on the talk page. Right now I'm feeling like this is an everyone against me debate, which I am uncomfortable with. I would like to give other authors time to read about what has happened and give their opinion. Until then I have unlinked the Episodes of Lost page from the template and I have updated the Episodes of Lost (season 1) per the cleanup that we have been doing for the past several months. Unless a new consensus is reached I see no reason to halt the progress we've already made on the episode guides. Jtrost (T | C | #) 19:06, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Danielle Rousseau

I have reverted your edits again because this issue is still being discussed. You have also violated the 3RR rule, but I will not report you because I believe you have good faith. However, if you revert this article again without consideration to what has been discussed on the talk page I will report you for the 3RR violation. Jtrost (T | C | #) 22:49, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi,

Not to jump into the middle of an apparent fray, but it seems to me that you might be being a bit hasty in asking for mediation on the Danielle Rousseau article. I actually agree that she probably warrants a separate article; however, the place to begin would be on the main Talk:Characters of Lost page, by offering a proposal that certain minor characters who may not be given "star" billing be upgraded to individual articles. For example, I also agree that Rose and Bernard will be deserving of their own page if/when they receive their own flashback episode. Once enough of the background of "Henry Gale" is revealed, he may also merit a separate page, too. (Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof have mentioned in a podcast that he will be significant in the future.) Thus, I would suggest, in the interests of compromise, that rather than trying for mediation— which seems to me unlikely to provide the outcome you desire— that you try to involve other interested editors in the dialogue by bringing up the question of when and which characters will get individual articles. The issue is certainly important, and I think it is something that should be considered by others, as Lost is expected to go on a long time, and is sure to generate more characters and background stories. Wikipedia is about sharing; and part of that means giving others the opportunity to have their say, even if you think you are absolutely right. If after making a proposal, you find that neither enough nor appropriate input is being offered, then escalating the issue to Request for Comments would be the next step, while mediation would seem to be a late-in-the-process dispute resolution option.—LeflymanTalk 04:24, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Saab 2000.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Saab 2000.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
